Do you See Me Then by Danny B. Bourg

I hide behind my veil, from many years ago

I see myself walking, up the aisle real slow

People all around me, but I didn't care

Because it was my love, you, who got my stare

I heard your love, so tenderly you held my life

You said forever my protector, if I were your wife

The tears fell so freely, at all these words you said

This was my moment, the day we did wed

Now the tears fall faster, as I wish for that man

The marks cover my body, from your wedding band

I slid it on your finger, the shining golden ring

Smeared by your hate, why does it cause me pain?

What did I do? Tell me I can change

Why must you always, look at me so strange?

I love you so much, even with all you've done

When all my friends say, away from you to run

Remember our wedding day, my protector the words you read

As you are beating me, do you think of those things you said?

My wedding veil on, you stare past it in love with your best friend

Now with the blood on my face on the floor, do you see me then?
